Western AF presents "Ol' Montana" by Jesse Daniel

You might remember his debut performance with "Clayton Was A Cowboy". We’d recommend you watching it to see how full scale talented he is.

Jesse came up with the band to our little part of the world and recorded this at the Albany County Fairgrounds. With the wind blowing at our mics all day, we found a sweet moment of silence from Mother Nature to grab this field recording. And a special thanks goes out to Jodi Lyford for helping us out that day. Much obliged friend.

Lyrics:

  1. We moved up to Bozeman in the spring of ‘92, She said she loved the mountains and that any place would do. I chose to bring us here because of opportunity,  If I’d have known the way it’d go, I would have stayed in Tennessee.
  2. He was a young and handsome cowboy, I’d met at the feed shop, Hired him on to help me tie the fence around our plot. I grew to trust that man, let him in like family, His name was Ol’ Montana and he took it all from me.
  3. (Chorus) Ol’ Montana if you only knew I’d do most anything, For the woman that you stand beside who wears my golden ring. Release her heart and let her find her way back home to me,  Ol’ Montana, why’d you take it all from me?
  4. She’d say she went out on the town with her new lady friends, But I saw her at the motel with that handsome younger man. It filled my heart with sadness and a rage I can’t explain,  He stole my joy and happiness for his own selfish gain.
  5. One night I went out drinkin’ and I had a bad idea, I’d go teach Ol’ Montana that his consequence is real. I pulled up to his trailer with my fathers forty-five, I kicked the door wide open, found them layin’ there inside.
  6. (Chorus) Ol’ Montana if you only knew I’d do most anything, For the woman that you lay beside who wears my golden ring. Release her heart and let her find her way back home to me,  Ol’ Montana, why’d you take it all from me?
  7. Late at night I think about the days our life was good, But I’d shoot that man again a hundred more times if I could. I don’t regret my choices, though I never will be free, Ol’ Montana, why’d you take it all from me. Ol’ Montana, why’d you take it all from me. Oh Montana, why’d you take it all from me.
