This one turned into a medley: Shadow Fleet/The Black Page # 1.
As a little anecdote: Frank Zappa called the piece ‘The Black Page’ because the amount of notes made the page appear ‘black’.
- I thought the affiliation with the title could also make the piece sound ‘dark’. So I incorporated a haunting mellotron choir into it to give it that kind of dark vibe.
- The piece I composed around it I called ‘Shadow Fleet’… basically a ghost ship coming through the fog delivering the ‘Black Page’.
- When you zoom into the ship on the EP cover on my Bandcamp page you’ll see that notation is written on the sails.
