Watch "Dancing Drops" performed on the world's largest upright piano

#davidklavins #piano #musicvideo In the west-Latvian town Ventspils, there is a concert venue featuring the world's largest upright piano, designed by David Klavins. After recording an album in Klavins's piano factory in 2023, Marius returned in August 2024 to see David again and fulfill his dream of playing on the m470i this time.

Marius wanted to capture his first impressions of this remarkable instrument, so he teamed up with friend and producer Lawrence Greenwood to get an idea of how to record that „Giant“.

David arranged a recording day, alongside the regular concert schedule. After the microphone setup of this giant piano, Marius had roughly four hours to record. Working under such pressure is usually challenging for him, so he ended up improvising a few pieces. However, there was one track he additionally wanted to record: "Dancing Drops"—a piece he was eager to capture on this unique instrument.

"Dancing Drops" became one of five pieces, recorded in Ventspils.
