Venti turbini| Duo Zeffiretti (Maayan Licht & Guy Maori)
The recital of Duo Zeffiretti features Sopranista Maayan Licht and Harpsichordist Guy Maori in a performance of Handel's "Orlando".
On August 2024, at Paliesius Manor in Lithuania, the duo brought to life the aria “Venti, turbini, prestate”.
This piece tells the story of Princess Almirena being kidnapped by an evil sorceress. Orlando's plea to the winds and storms is a poignant call for help as he prepares to fight against the evil that has taken his beloved.
Italian text:
- Venti, turbini, prestate
- Le vostre ali a questo piè!
- Cieli, numi, il braccio armate
- Contro chi pena mi diè!
English translation:
- Winds, storms, lend your wings to this foot!
- Heavens, gods, arm my arm against those who caused me suffering!
