Making old crappy keyboards sound older (and crappier?) with Hologram effects
I decided to break out the old Canon XL1 for some retro-quality film work with some dollar store Casio finds and a little MicroKorg Crystal action.
Here's the breakdown of the video:
- Casio VL-Tone tweets and beats. We kinda spool up the effects and then get to the jams.
- Casio SK-1 sampler. I sample my voice for most of it and then crush it all together with some 8 bit beats.
- Korg MicroKORG - That's just there because we needed an actually good sounding thing to play with for a bit. We can use the Cassette tape effects on Chroma Console to make it sound like its 100 years old.
All effects live from Hologram Chroma Console and Hologram Microcosm.
Recorded directly into Logic Pro (no added effects or compression) and filmed on Canon XL1 with screen grabbed footage on iPad pro.
