True Loves return with a soulful swagger on their latest single, “Good Weed and Red Wine.” The first release since 2021’s album, “Sunday Afternoon,” finds the band revitalized and funky as ever.
The song, begun over a wine and weed infused winter evening jam session, was penned by the youngest member of the group, trombonist Greg Kramer. The track leans towards his hip hop influences and can be heard in the brash cinematic melodies played by the horn section (which also features tenor saxophonist Gordon Brown).
Jimmy James' tremolo guitar playing is undeniably subtle and soulful, whilst complimenting Bryant Moore's slithering 5 string bass line.
Recorded to tape at Seattle’s Avast Recording Studio B by Larson Haakenstad, “Good Weed and Red Wine” marks the True Loves next chapter in its storied ten year history.
