Everything had slowed down, and although life was there, I did not yet know how to return to it. This song reflects the choice to be honest about where I was, instead of pretending to be further along than I felt. I felt unable to take the outstretched hands of the dear hearts who had been waiting by my side for so long, asking me to step back into life with them. It was painful, but it also brought clarity. So I left and travelled across Europe, busking in stations, reinventing life outside of bed, step by step, day by day. Somewhere along the way, something shifted, and we found our way back to each other. Since then, life has felt different. Greatness is found in the smallest things. Something steady grew out of that period, something I still hold on to. I found my intuition again. ONE DAY represents the trust you need from the people who love you, to allow you to step away, to retreat, and to meet yourself. So that, in time, you can return to the table more whole, more present. Reimagining this song now with an orchestra feels like giving it wings it did not have before, allowing it to carry the full weight of what it holds. When I hear it now, it brings me back to that time, to the journey, to moments I had not thought about in a while. About finding a way forward. A moment when life asked something of me that I was not sure I could give. But I also hear something else now: a step forward, even when you do not yet know where it will lead. Somewhere along the way, that “one day” quietly became now. I feel deeply grateful to create this music with my dear friends and to share it with you. I hope it offers something small, a sense of courage to choose the unknown, which in the end means choosing yourself and the people you love. Love, Marijn
