This is complemented by carefully selected solo piano transcriptions of works by two of Rachmaninoff’s most important forerunners, Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. “Piano transcriptions are fascinating because the arrangers are usually outstanding pianists. They know exactly what is needed to get the maximum out of the instrument. It’s always a pleasure to play these pieces,” says Nobu. The full album is released digitally and on CD on 9 January and is now available for pre-order. Nobuyuki Tsujii Tchaikovsky: The Nutcracker, Op. 71 (Transcr. Pletnev as Concert Suite for Piano): II.
