On the second day of Christmas, Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio will be performed alongside traditional Ukrainian Christmas carols at the Berlin Cathedral. The program includes Cantatas I, III and VI from Bach's famous work. Performers include Neima Fischer (soprano), Julienne Mbodjé (alto), András Adamik (tenor), Cornelius Uhle (baritone), the Berlin State and Cathedral Choir, the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin, and the lautten compagney Berlin under the direction of Kai-Uwe Jirka. Svitlana Kavka plays the bandura, an ancient lute zither that was long banned by the Soviet government and stands as a symbol of Ukrainian national pride.
