Faux Tales - Solace
In early March, I packed up my piano and a few analogue synths and headed to the beautiful Farelhaus in Biel. I spent the day recording three new pieces in this stunning mid-century concert hall — each one composed specifically for this setup, with the goal of capturing something raw, intimate, and true to the sound of the instruments.
Huge thanks to Pascal Berger for beautifully capturing the performance and the atmosphere of the space on video.
Gear used:
Piano: Keybird X1
Synth Arp: Vermona Perfourmer (3 oscillators on 3 different octaves, brought in and out with the lowpass filter, 4th osc is the noise percussion)
Synth Pluck: Jupiter 6 (the sound at the beginning of each bar)
Synth Lead: Moog Sub37
Drums: Vermona DRM
The synths (except the Sub37) are all sequenced via midi (just notes) from Ableton using the mioXM interface.
Delay: Walrus Meraki
Reverb: Meris Mercury X
Ducking (on the Perfourmer): Pill Pedal
Desk: SSL Big Six
Piano mics: Neumann KM184
Strings and guitars were added in post.
