Funk Rock Mayones Jabba Bass Grooves (Drums by Jack Irons)
Get ready to grove! I'm excited to share with you my new Mayones Jabba bass playing funky rhythms on drums by the incredible Jack Irons. We both filmed our takes, and you can find the split screen version on our social media pages.
This bass has a sweet 70's Jazz bass tone that I've always loved. It's punchy with nice definition and a serious bite. The aged Monolith Sonic Blue Nitro finish is stunning, with a subtle relic that shows great attention to detail. The neck plays like butter!
The body is made of swamp ash, while the top is an eye-catching poplar. The neck and fingerboard are crafted from maple. It's loaded with Velvetrone Gallant pickups paired with a 3-band Musashi Nitoryu preamp.
I've set the EQ to centred with a slight raise in the mids and tone on full. The pickup balance is a pinch towards the bridge pickup, which is in 70's position. The signal was recorded using my Eich T-1000 DI into a Focusrite Scarlett, with no digital processing or plugins used. Just a DG Hyper Luminal compressor pedal and Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings.
Special thanks to Jack Irons for laying down the drums first, followed by my take on top. We both filmed our takes, and you can watch the split screen version on our other pages.
