India – Karlijn Langendijk (Live at Hamburger Gitarrenfestival 2024)
I wrote "India" after traveling the country for a longer period and finding myself deeply inspired by the richness of Indian music and culture. The rhythms, the colors, and the intensity of the atmosphere left a lasting impression on me, and this piece became my way of capturing that journey.
In India, it’s common to explore all kinds of fascinating rhythmic patterns, so in this composition I played around with 7/8 rhythms. It’s one of my favorite meters, because it creates a pulse that feels both flowing and unexpected at the same time.
This performance was recorded live at the Hamburger Gitarrenfestival 2024, a wonderful yearly guitar festival in Germany. I’m so grateful to have been part of it – thank you for having me!
