"I decided to re-arrange several songs that I have been playing live for years. The session brought me back to Kuldiga, Latvia, to play on Klavins special pianos - where I recorded my full album in 2023. I've always recorded in this concert venue by night, so we opted for another night session in the same grand hall with its high ceilings and inspiring acoustics. I find it just very fascinating to work at night, when everything is still and unhurried, there's no fear of missing out elsewhere which allows me deeper focus on the music."
"I naively sent an email to David Klavins, asking if I could visit him to record on one of his pianos. To my suprise, he responded very friendly already the next day. I thought David was based in Germany, but he had actually moved to Latvia – a country I had never really engaged with before. Anyway, we agreed on May 2023 and so I booked myself a bus ticket to Latvia. I booked a small, charming one room apartment just ten minutes from David’s factory. After a 36 hour trip via Poland and Lithuania with basically no sleep, I arrived in the little town of Kul-diga. Despite the exhaustion, it was all worth it. There I was, with my large backpack, some music equipment and a few ideas in my head."
